and Reclaiming Your Life

The essence of trauma is disconnection- so the real question is: how did we get separated and how do we connect?

Understanding Trauma and PTSD

Trauma can affect every aspect of a person’s life- emotional, physical, relational, and psychological. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may develop after experiences that overwhelm the nervous system’s ability to cope. Symptoms can include intrusive memories, avoidance, emotional numbing or negativity, and heightened arousal or reactivity.

At The Hope Space, we recognise the profound and often far-reaching impact that traumatic experiences can have. Trauma can shape the way you relate to yourself, your body, and the world around you. It can contribute to the development or maintenance of difficulties such as eating disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, dissociation, or other behavioural and emotional struggles.

We are here to walk alongside you as you begin or continue your healing journey—with deep respect for your story, your strengths, and your pace.

The Healing Path

Recovering from trauma is a unique and deeply personal process. We understand how important it is for you to feel safe, empowered, and in control as you move through your healing. Through a range of trauma-informed therapeutic modalities, we create a supportive environment where you can express yourself openly, without fear of judgment, pressure, or harm.

We honour not only the events that occurred, but the internal experience you carry as a result.

Trauma is not what happens to you. Trauma is what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you.

Key Elements of Trauma Therapy

At The Hope Space, we specialise in trauma-informed therapy which is an approach grounded in understanding the complex ways trauma affects the brain, body, and sense of self. Our work focuses on:

  • Building safety and trust
  • Developing emotional regulation and stability
  • Processing and integrating traumatic memories and sensations
  • Addressing the impact of trauma on the body and eating behaviours
  • Supporting nervous system healing
  • Fostering resilience, reconnection, and post-traumatic growth

We tailor our approach to your needs and readiness, ensuring your experience of therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and empowering.

You Don’t Have to Face Trauma Alone

You deserve to feel supported, understood, and held with care. If you’ve experienced trauma- whether recent, distant, or ongoing-know that you do not have to navigate this alone. At The Hope Space, we offer a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, attunement, and emotional safety.

Together, we will walk the path of healing at a pace that honours your story. Our aim is to help you reclaim a sense of agency, rebuild inner stability, and discover renewed hope, strength, and resilience.

Understanding the impact of trauma is an essential first step. At The Hope Space, we are committed to guiding you through a transformative and deeply affirming healing process that acknowledges your experiences and empowers you to move forward with clarity, compassion, and confidence.

EMDR Therapy

At The Hope Space, we offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)which is a trauma-focused therapy widely recognised as a gold standard treatment for trauma and PTSD. EMDR helps the brain safely process and integrate distressing memories, reducing emotional intensity, easing somatic and psychological distress, and strengthening more adaptive beliefs about yourself. For individuals whose relationship with food, their body, or their sense of self has been shaped by traumatic experiences, EMDR can offer a powerful pathway toward integration, stability, and renewed self-trust. We work gently, collaboratively, and always at your pace to ensure the process feels grounded, safe, and empowering.

Safe And Sound Protocol (SSP)

At The Hope Space, we offer the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), a gentle, evidence-based listening therapy designed to support nervous system regulation. SSP uses specially filtered music to help the brain and body feel safer, calmer, and more connected, which can reduce symptoms of anxiety, sensory sensitivity, trauma responses, and emotional overwhelm. We offer flexible packages, either as standalone Safe and Sound sessions or as an adjunct to your ongoing therapy, allowing it to be integrated in a way that best suits your needs. Please contact us for more information or to discuss which option might be right for you.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

TF-CBT is an evidence-based approach designed to support individuals who have experienced trauma and are struggling with its emotional, cognitive, and behavioural impacts. TF-CBT addresses trauma-related symptoms such as anxiety, low mood, shame, emotional dysregulation, and difficulties in relationships or behaviour, while helping individuals to make sense of their experiences in a safe and structured way.

Key principles of TF-CBT are incorporated into individual therapy for adults, children, and adolescents, as well as into combined parent–child sessions where appropriate. This may include building emotional regulation skills, gently processing traumatic memories, and supporting caregivers to respond in ways that promote safety, understanding, and recovery. The approach is trauma-informed, carefully paced, and integrated with other evidence-based psychological therapies.
